The First Songs of Christmas
Songs have such power to convey meaning and evoke emotion. Christmas music is no exception.

Whether they cause you to feel jolly or jaded, these seasonal songs of celebration impact us. We want to experience the wonder and glory of God’s entrance into our world through The First Songs of Christmas. We’re not talking about the tunes we hear at the mall. This advent season we will see the story of Christ’s birth through the songs that are sung in the opening chapters of Luke’s gospel.

Let’s listen together and discover the glorious truth that Jesus is the song our hearts long to sing.

04 A Song of Joy

Songs That Sustain Us - Olathe Campus

Psalm 126

From Series: "Songs That Sustain Us - Olathe Campus"

If there’s one thing that always sets the tone for Christmas, it’s the music. When those bells are ring-ting-tingling, they conjure images of presents under the tree and jolly ol’ Saint Nick. They warm our hearts and put that holiday pep in our step. Songs do that. They move us one way or another. But the question remains as to where? And to what end? We know we need songs that offer more than a temporary escape. What we really need this Christmas are songs that sustain us. Songs that help us hope when we’ve forgotten how to hope. Songs that point us to peace when surrounded by chaos. Songs that assure us of love when we feel abandoned. Songs that stir joy when pain seems to dominate. What we need are the Psalms. Join us this Advent season as we let the songs that have sustained God’s people for thousands of years teach us to remember and wait. And what we’ll find is that there’s always more to celebrate than we once thought.

Conversation Starters

Conversation Starters are one way we at Christ Community seek to dig deeper into the current sermon and biblical text. They are available during community group sessions.

There are two easy ways to locate
Conversation Starters:

1)  Weekly Update emails, delivered to your personal email every Saturday morning, will always contain a link to Sermon Notes, and Conversation Starters (when available);

or

2) Use the Sermon Locator to select your sermon by campus, speaker and date. Below the title graphic select the link for EXTRAS. Sermon Notes, and Conversation Starters are located under EXTRAS.

NOTE: If EXTRAS does not exist, there are no Sermon Notes or Conversation Starters for that sermon.
