Rediscovering Jesus’ Kingdom
If you really want to know Jesus and follow Him, then you can’t just embrace Jesus, you also need to embrace His Kingdom. Jesus didn’t come to help us escape the world, He came to reclaim it.
When we say we want His Kingdom to come, do we even know what it is we’re asking for? What are the ways Jesus reclaims His world and where do we fit into His agenda?
His Kingdom seems absolutely backward from the way everything else operates, and yet it’s just what this world needs. Join us as we rediscover Jesus’ Kingdom through the Gospel account of Luke.

Rediscovering Jesus' Kingdom: Nothing To Offer
Jesus is often thought of as savior, but the gospel writers simultaneously emphasize his role as King. We can only understand His role as savior when we understand his role as King over a Kingdom. And as a king, Jesus constantly pressed against cultural assumptions about who was worthy of His time. Jesus wants us to look at infants and see how we enter His kingdom. Let’s learn together what Jesus is calling us to be together.
From Series: "Rediscovering Jesus' Kingdom:: Downtown"
How long have we been waiting for 2021? It feels like a decade. Here we are, finally in 2021, but not much seems different. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but waiting is hard. We might be tempted to lose heart. Lose heart in our calling to love our neighbor as ourselves. We might lose heart in God’s people as this has been a very divisive time in our lives in many ways. We might lose heart in God himself. Nothing tempts us to doubt God like hard times. We can often ask, “Is Jesus actually doing anything right now? If he is, why is it so difficult? What do we do about it?” Today Jesus begins that conversation through a parable to show us we must not lose hope in His coming kingdom.

Conversation Starters
Conversation Starters are one way we at Christ Community seek to dig deeper into the current sermon and biblical text. They are available during community group sessions.
To locate Conversation Starters go to your Weekly Update emails, delivered to your personal email every Saturday morning. They will always contain a link to Sermon Notes, and Conversation Starters (when available).
