Rediscovering Jesus’ Kingdom
If you really want to know Jesus and follow Him, then you can’t just embrace Jesus, you also need to embrace His Kingdom. Jesus didn’t come to help us escape the world, He came to reclaim it.
When we say we want His Kingdom to come, do we even know what it is we’re asking for? What are the ways Jesus reclaims His world and where do we fit into His agenda?
His Kingdom seems absolutely backward from the way everything else operates, and yet it’s just what this world needs. Join us as we rediscover Jesus’ Kingdom through the Gospel account of Luke.

Rediscovering Jesus' Kingdom-Brilliant King Jesus
Sermon Notes Conversation Starter
Of all that we know about Jesus, we often forget how brilliant he is. Jesus is smarter because his authority is higher. If we want to learn from brilliant Jesus, we have to let him challenge us. Jesus is smarter than us because his understanding is deeper. Before we ask him for anything, he doesn’t only know what we are asking better than we do, but he knows why better than we do. His understanding cuts right through the human heart. One of the most incredible gifts we have from Jesus is his promise to search us and know us, through and through. We actually long to be seen and known by God, even when it is scary and painful at times because he sees all the things we work really hard not to see about ourselves. Are you letting God see you?
From Series: "Rediscovering Jesus' Kingdom:: Brookside"
How long have we been waiting for 2021? It feels like a decade. Here we are, finally in 2021, but not much seems different. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but waiting is hard. We might be tempted to lose heart. Lose heart in our calling to love our neighbor as ourselves. We might lose heart in God’s people as this has been a very divisive time in our lives in many ways. We might lose heart in God himself. Nothing tempts us to doubt God like hard times. We can often ask, “Is Jesus actually doing anything right now? If he is, why is it so difficult? What do we do about it?” Today Jesus begins that conversation through a parable to show us we must not lose hope in His coming kingdom.
