Rediscovering Jesus’ Kingdom
If you really want to know Jesus and follow Him, then you can’t just embrace Jesus, you also need to embrace His Kingdom. Jesus didn’t come to help us escape the world, He came to reclaim it.
When we say we want His Kingdom to come, do we even know what it is we’re asking for? What are the ways Jesus reclaims His world and where do we fit into His agenda?
His Kingdom seems absolutely backward from the way everything else operates, and yet it’s just what this world needs. Join us as we rediscover Jesus’ Kingdom through the Gospel account of Luke.

Parables: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector - 12
2020 is intense. People of all stripes are zealous for what is “right” and for obliterating obstacles to what is “right” whether it be for the economy, their health, justice, or education — to name a few. But what is the greatest obstacle to seeing the world made right? I’m sure you have a few in mind, but Jesus names an obstacle so insidious that it actually grows MORE deadly the MORE you pursue what’s right in the world. The best of us can become the worst. We can be right, and still dead wrong. And we can’t fix it by just adding one more “right thing.” Join us to see how this insight can be good news.
From Series: "Parables: from the Book of Luke - Downtown Campus"
Jesus’s teachings weren’t always straightforward. In fact, even as someone widely known as the greatest teacher and communicator the world has ever seen, Jesus often spoke in ways that purposefully confounded crowds and left some people walking away confused. Jesus spoke in riddles and stories, and in these teachings, there was always a twist. A reversal. In other words, something that makes us want to lean in desiring to know more, or to get up and walk away. Most of all, Jesus’ parables are a window... a window into the upside-down, paradoxical kingdom of God. Join us this summer as we explore Jesus’ brilliant stories and as we seek out His kingdom revealed to us in their midst.
