Parables: The Friend at Midnight - 04
Sermon Notes Children's Moment Connect Card
Praying can feel weird. Lots of different people give lots of different advice on when and how to do it. But Jesus taught His followers something central to prayer: we pray to a good Father who loves to be asked! In His parable of the friend at Midnight, Jesus shows us that when we pray, we can ask boldly and expectantly, trusting our Father to give us what we need.
From Series: "Parables: from the Book of Luke - Leawood Campus"
Jesus’s teachings weren’t always straightforward. In fact, even as someone widely known as the greatest teacher and communicator the world has ever seen, Jesus often spoke in ways that purposefully confounded crowds and left some people walking away confused. Jesus spoke in riddles and stories, and in these teachings, there was always a twist. A reversal. In other words, something that makes us want to lean in desiring to know more, or to get up and walk away. Most of all, Jesus’ parables are a window... a window into the upside-down, paradoxical kingdom of God. Join us this summer as we explore Jesus’ brilliant stories and as we seek out His kingdom revealed to us in their midst.
