a call to flourish
At Christ Community, we believe God has designed and called us all to flourish in a gospel-centered community of faith – a local church. We encourage all who are being called to our local church family to express their commitment to this calling by becoming a member of Christ Community.
Becoming a part of our church family is a wonderful calling, a great privilege, and an important responsibility. We need each other – our time, talents, and treasure – to make Christ Community more beautiful in its expression and more effective in its mission.
Gatherings are regularly hosted to provide more information about membership. Click the link below to find out upcoming membership class dates at each of our campuses.
The most important characteristic of all members of Christ Community is a whole-hearted confession that Jesus Christ is both Lord and Savior of all. This confession will express itself in our membership through six core commitments:
We commit to gather together as a family of believers on a frequent and regular basis. These gatherings include regular attendance on Sunday morning to worship Jesus Christ, to sit under the authority of Scripture, and to encourage and exhort one another in our faith. Our commitment to gather also includes regular times throughout the week to meet with a small group of people with whom you can journey through life together (see Acts 2:42 and Hebrews 10:24-25).
We commit to deepen in our understanding and application of the gospel. Although we believe we could never earn God’s love, we acknowledge that our apprenticeship to Jesus and our journey toward greater Christ-likeness is not opposed to our human effort. We always rejoice in the relationship we have with God through Jesus, but are never content to stop deepening it (see James 1:25 and Philippians 2:12-13).
We commit to invite others to have an encounter with Jesus. This invitation may be to explore Scripture together, to join a small group together, or to attend a worship service on Sunday morning. As the church, we are called to make disciples as Jesus commanded us. Although only the Holy Spirit can change the human heart, it is our calling to share the gospel as we have experienced it and to invite others into an encounter with Jesus and His people in the local church (see Matthew 28:18-20 and 2 Corinthians 5:11-15).
We commit to regularly serve our church family and our local community. We acknowledge that God gives gifts and abilities to all His people for the purpose of service to others. This conviction leads us to intentionally and consistently seek out ways to serve and pursue the common good in our families, in our vocations, and in our circles of influence (see 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 and James 2:14-17).
We commit to joyously giving of our time, talent, and treasure to our church family. Because God is the author of all our blessings, including our abilities, our training, and our resources, we dedicate them completely to His mission of renewal and re-creation through the local church (see Proverbs 3:9-10 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-15).
We commit to submit to the authority and guidance of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the church. By God’s design, the church is a place of order. As we are able to submit to our spiritual leaders after Christ’s example, we honor that design and Christ Himself, the head of the church (see Ephesians 5:15-21 and Hebrews 13:17).
