what to expect

We’re excited you’re interested in Christ Community. We know contemplating a visit to a church for the first time can lead to questions. We hope the section below will help answer a few of the questions you might have about worshiping at Christ Community. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

What is the music like?

Our music is a blend of contemporary and traditional, drawing from all types of American musical styles. We sing mostly contemporary Christian songs, hymns, spirituals, and occasionally an original song written by the band. You’ll usually see a piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, bass, horns and several vocalists leading each week. We project the lyrics to each song, encouraging our congregation to sing and worship the Lord.

About the Services

While our style of worship is contemporary in nature, blending both old and new, our commitment as a worshiping community is to beautiful and thoughtful worship anchored in Bible-centered, relevant teaching. Each week, we invite all Christ followers regardless of church membership to come together to celebrate Communion.* Join us as we journey and worship together on Sundays at 10:00am.

Tell me about the teaching?

Our teaching is expositional in style, meaning our sermons are based on a passage of Scripture. We desire for our teaching to be faithful to the Bible, centered on the good news of the forgiveness of sins in Jesus, and relevant to life.

What should I wear?

There’s no dress code and we’re generally very casual. If you feel like wearing a suit, go ahead, and if you feel like wearing t-shirt and jeans, that’s great too. Just be yourself.

Community Groups are designed to be a place where people can engage with others from our church on a more personal level than what Sunday mornings can afford. Community Groups are small groups of people who meet in homes for the purpose of growing in the three relationships of the Christian life: our relationship with God, each other, and our city and world. Groups meet weekly during our fall, winter, and spring sessions.

Our 50+ group meets regularly throughout the year to laugh together, play together, share life with one another, and serve our broader community. We’re an informal group and a really great place to connect. For more information about upcoming events, see our CALENDAR.

A Caring Family

Our mission at Christ Community is “to be a caring family of multiplying disciples influencing our community and world for Jesus Christ.” The core of our Family and Care Ministries is to design and offer ministries that magnify and emphasize the “caring family” part of our mission. We are working to establish the family as God intended it to be.

Family Enrichment and Education

We offer enrichment and education opportunities (classes, conferences, and retreats) in order to strengthen marriages and to help parents sharpen their parenting skills. For details about current opportunities visit our calendar or contact for more information.

Counseling and Professional Assistance

Here at Christ Community we recognize that sometimes life and circumstance may require you to connect with a professional for help. Should you find yourself or someone you care about in need of professional help and you are uncertain where to turn, please contact one of our pastors and they can share with you ideas of counselors and professionals with whom you might connect.

Men of Brookside

Men’s Online Bible Study in Romans

Connecting, encouraging, equipping, & serving women

Welcome to Women’s Ministries at Christ Community. The heart of our Women’s Ministries is to welcome, encourage, connect, and serve women as we journey together. We offer a variety of ways to connect for women of all ages and stages of life, including Bible studies, a play and enrichment group (Parents of BKS), serving opportunities, and fellowship events.

A wonderful way to grow deeper in relationship with other women at Brookside Campus is by joining a Bible study group. We have several options available this fall, covering a variety of topics and in various formats (indoor, outdoor, and online). Participants will need to purchase a copy of the book or study guide before the first meeting day.

In order to allow for social distancing, we are intentionally limiting the size of groups. So, please only register if you are sure you will not miss more than two meetings of the session. If you have concerns about this, please reach out to Holly Justice

If you’re college-age, in your 20’s, or 30’s, you’re welcome to join the young adult community as we seek to build relationships with one another and be connected more deeply to the life of the church as a whole. We gather on the second Sunday evening of each month for an informal fellowship at each other’s homes, as well as for occasional lunches, service projects, and other events. To stay up to date on Brookside Young Adult activities, check out our Facebook page. Contact Taylor Fair with any questions.

Middle School and High School

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and learn more about who we are and what we are about. We aim to live out our church’s calling to be a caring family of multiplying disciples influencing our community and world for Jesus Christ. Student Ministries is the place to connect and grow for any and all students who are in 6th – 12th grade. Here, relationships begin and are deepened, and spiritual formation takes place. And we have a lot of fun while we’re at it! Visit our Brookside Student Ministries section to find out more about our program.

Children's Ministries

We value children at Christ Community and our Sunday morning worship gatherings are intentionally intergenerational, as people from all ages and stages of life worship God together as a community. We encourage families and children to worship together, but we also provide a time of playful formation for children. We provide age-appropriate programming for children birth through 5th Grade during our 9:00 & 10:45am service.

Parents may check in their children at the Children’s Ministries room before the service begins. For children participating in the worship service, Kid Connect activity sheets are available at the back of the worship center. These are designed to help children and families engage in God’s word and in the local church. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Lynn Rolf.

What is Razor's Edge?

Razor’s Edge is a catalytic learning experience, hosted at each of our campuses, that allows participants to engage ideas that have shaped our church and to grow in life habits that bring great transformation. It helps prepare participants to follow Jesus everywhere. Razor’s Edge consists of 11 weeknight gatherings, but truly is a 70-day journey designed to shape the rest of your life. Child care is provided.

Who is it for?

Razor’s Edge is designed for anyone at Christ Community who desires to become a more integral and effective Christ-follower, both in the church and in our community and world. It is designed to train and equip and is generally the basic prerequisite for anyone wishing to serve in a place of leadership at Christ Community. If you have any questions about whether this is the right pathway for you, please contact one of our staff to find out more, or visit our Razor’s Edge for details and registration information.
