shawnee mission

The Shawnee Mission Campus is Christ Community’s youngest campus, started by a group of people committed to creating a new space for people to find community, a place to call home. We gather as people of all ages – infants and empty nesters, middle school students and young families. You are always welcome to come, visit, and join us. We look forward to seeing you on a Sunday morning!

monthly update

We are a church that seeks to create a warm, friendly, and engaging place where Christ is honored and grace is central. We are a church that finds God-ordained meaning and value in all of life – in your workplace, in the beauty of the arts, in caring for the vulnerable, and in seeking the good of our city. Above all, we believe and speak the good news Jesus announced, that no one is too far lost for His grace to write a new story in their life.

what to expect

We’re excited you’re interested in Christ Community. We know contemplating a visit to a church for the first time can lead to questions. We hope the section below will help answer a few of the questions you might have about worshiping at Christ Community. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

About the Services

While our style of worship is a blend of historical and contemporary in nature, our commitment as a worshiping community is to beautiful and thoughtful worship anchored in Bible-centered, relevant teaching. Each week, we invite all Christ followers regardless of church membership to come together to celebrate Communion.  Join us as we journey and worship together at 9:00 or 10:30am on Sundays. For a map or directions to our church, click on Map/Directions in the Shawnee section at the top of the page.

What will the worship service be like?

At Christ Community, our hope is that when you attend on a Sunday morning, both your heart (your emotions) and your mind (your intellect) will be engaged and challenged by all that takes place. The service includes singing, prayer, readings, teaching from the Bible, and communion. Our services reflect our desire to honor God, express our devotion to Jesus, and learn more about what it means to follow Him in all aspects of life.

What is the music like?

Most Sundays, our music is guitar-based and is presented in a contemporary music context with elements of historical worship throughout. The choice of music is directly related to our service, the Biblical text, and its application – often including a mixture of music, both old and new, remembering and proclaiming who God is and expressing our heartfelt response to His redeeming work in our lives.

What should I wear?

We’re not really worried about that, and it is reflected in the diverse styles you would see on a Sunday morning. Know this: we are not so much interested in what you wear as who you are and who you are becoming.

Join A Community Group
Join a Community Group

Community Groups are designed to be a place where people can engage with others from our church on a more personal level than what Sunday mornings can afford. Community Groups are small groups of people who meet in homes for the purpose of growing in the three relationships of the Christian life: our relationship with God, each other, and our city and world. Groups meet weekly during our fall, winter, and spring sessions.

A Caring Family
A Caring Family

Our mission at Christ Community is “to be a caring family of multiplying disciples influencing our community and world for Jesus Christ.” The core of our Family and Care Ministries is to design and offer ministries that magnify and emphasize the “caring family” part of our mission. We are working to establish the family as God intended it to be.

Family Enrichment and Education

We offer enrichment and education opportunities (classes, conferences, and retreats) in order to strengthen marriages and to help parents sharpen their parenting skills.

For details about current opportunities visit our calendar or contact for more information.

Counseling and Professional Assistance

Here at Christ Community we recognize that sometimes life and circumstance may require you to connect with a professional for help. Should you find yourself or someone you care about in need of professional help and you are uncertain where to turn, please contact one of our pastors and they can share with you ideas of counselors and professionals with whom you might connect.

Student Ministries At Shawnee Campus
Student Ministries at Shawnee Campus

Middle School and High School

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and learn more about who we are and what we are about. We aim to live out our church’s calling to be a caring family of multiplying disciples influencing our community and world for Jesus Christ. Student Ministries is the place to connect and grow for any and all students who are in 6th – 12th grade. Here, relationships begin and are deepened, and spiritual formation takes place. And we have a lot of fun while we’re at it!

Wednesday night gatherings (youth group) is designed to create an environment where students can encounter Jesus Christ, explore the Christian faith, and engage in Christian community. We hope students will feel welcomed and loved—and have a place where they belong. Most definitely, our students will be encouraged and challenged to grow in their knowledge and love of Christ, regardless of where they are in the faith spectrum.

Children's Ministries At Shawnee Mission
Children's Ministries at Shawnee Mission

We minister to and nurture children from birth to 5th grade. Our goal is to partner with families as we seek to support and equip them to know, love, and grow in relationship with Christ in a way that will result in a life of worship.

Both of our services have Children’s Ministries for all grades.

Every developmental and grade-level room provides an intergenerational experience as adult leaders, youth helpers, and children all journey together through a grand metanarrative of the Big God Story. Our goal is to provide relevant and meaningful programs on Sundays and during the week to help children understand they have a part in God’s Story and this faith community as they grow and become deeply committed followers of Christ.

What Is Razors Leadership Pathway?
What is Razors Leadership Pathway?

Razors Leadership Pathway is the place where men and women at Christ Community are “sharpened” (Proverbs 27:17) and refined as leaders so that they are razor-sharp, prepared to lead with integrity of heart and skillful hands (Psalm 78:70-72) in the local church and in their community and world.

Who is it for?
Razors Leadership Pathway is designed for anyone at Christ Community who desires to become a more integral and effective leader, both in the church and in our community and world. It is designed to train and equip leaders at Christ Community and is generally the basic prerequisite for anyone wishing to serve in a place of leadership at Christ Community.

If you have any questions about whether this is the right pathway for you, please contact one of our staff to find out more, or visit our Razors website for details and registration information.
