On Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 8:30am-3:00pm Christ Community will host an aging symposium, Journey to 100.

There are eight different break out sessions offered. Each participant can choose four out of the eight to attend. A continental breakfast and a lunch are included in the price of your ticket. Tickets are $17.50 if you pre-register HERE or $20 at the door.

Sessions Being Offered This Fall:

Aging at Home and Transitional Ideas 
Maria and Dan O'Dell -O'Dell Real Estate Group

This session presents the realities of seniors and home ownership. Topics
 include aging in place, moving/downsizing, and home maintenance. (4 sessions)

Aging Well with the Right Nutrition
Melissa White- MS, RD LD, CDE

An exploration of lifestyle habits shared by people who have lived a long life and the unique nutritional needs/strategies for the aging population. Health/wellness and managing illness or disease will be discussed. (4 sessions)

Finishing Well: End of Life Options & Planning
Cathy Boomer -Signature Funerals

This workshop will present an overview  of funeral planning and the options and choices available as you consider next steps. (4 sessions)

Senior Living Options
Peter Crane - Executive Director of Villa Ventura 

The goal of this workshop is to provide an overview of the variety of choices in retirement communities, assisted living, post acute skilled nursing care housing. (4 sessions)

 Preventing & Detecting Illnesses as We Age
Chip George- NP BSN, DNP with a specialty in Gerentology

A discussion to recommend immunizations, screenings and pills used to detect or prevent illnesses as we age. (2 sessions)

I Would/Would Not Want That Done!

An important discussion on the importance of considering and documenting advanced medical decision-making, also known as Advance Care Planning, so your wishes will be known. (2 sessions)

Alzheimer's 101

 This workshop will provide an understanding of the disease,10 warning signs, benefits of early detection and steps to take for better brain health. (1 session)

Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate
 Denise G. Dias- M.S. Family & Consumer Sciences Agent

Learn how to distribute non-titled heirlooms without starting a family feud. Suggestions for making a plan to distribute belongings will be discussed. (1 session)
